“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Happy New Year! I hope you have something special planned for the first day of the year! Of course, maybe staying in your pajamas and binge watching Netflix is something special. I know that somedays it can be especially if you were out late last night ringing in the New Year!
New Year’s Day is always busy at Derek’s restaurant, so he has to work today. I haven’t decided on how I’m going to spend my day. I might go shopping or maybe stay in and read a book. No matter what, this southern girl is going to get her good luck food!
Just like Christmas Day, I’m not going to write a full blog post. I just wanted to take the time and write a few thoughts on the New Year.

I’ve never been much for New Year Resolutions. I never seemed to keep them when I did make them! Instead, I look forward to every New Year hoping for the best. I love the Emerson quote above. It reminds me that no matter what day of the year it is, I should start each day as if it is the first of the year, full of optimism and hope. That is actually a bit of a struggle for me and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in that. However, like everyone else, I can’t help but have hopes and wishes for a New Year.
Here are some of my hopes and wishes for 2020. (I still can’t believe it’s a new decade!)
I hope and pray for good health; physically, emotionally, and financially.
I hope and pray that the relationships in my life grow stronger every day.
I hope and pray for joy and laughter each and every day.
I hope and pray to travel every chance I get.
I hope and pray that our society will be overcome with peace and love, not hate.
I hope and pray that our leaders will make the best decisions for us and not themselves.
I hope and pray that we all live each day as if it was the best day in the year.
No matter what your plans are today, I wish you a Happy and Healthy New Year!
