Now that the New Year is underway, I’m sharing with you My Goals for 2020.
Have you noticed how the words “New Year’s Resolution” have started to slip away from our vocabulary? We’re all about goals now. Is the word “goals” less intimidating than “resolutions”? Is there less pressure if we meet them or not?
In the dictionary, the word “goal” is defined as the result or achievement toward which effort is directed while the word “resolution” is a resolve; a decision or determination. I think we like goals because they’re focused more on the effort than the end result. They’re less rigid than a resolution.

No matter what time of year I’m consistently setting new goals for myself, short-term and long-term. Maybe it’s something I really want to do or maybe it’s something that will make me better as a person. Some of my goals are never-ending. My journey with them goes up and down but never really ends like my health goals.
As 2019 was coming to a close, I found myself thinking about the New Year and decade. What do I want for my life this next year and how will they impact my next ten? In the spirit of the New Year, I thought I would share with you some of My Goals for 2020.
Staying Consistent With My Workouts
I was actually pretty good at staying consistent with my workouts for the majority of 2019. I had less than ten rest days the entire summer! However, as soon as the “comfy” season started to make an appearance I found myself less inclined. My six to seven workout days started to dwindle down to four to five days and sometimes three which for me is terrible!

It’s definitely time to get back to where I was. The more I work out, I find that I tend to be more productive throughout the day which is always a good thing. Plus I tend to eat healthier when I’m working out and since I’ll be hitting my forties this decade, the healthier my lifestyle is the better!
Regular Date Nights
Quality time with my hubby is not always easy to achieve. His job is pretty demanding and many times his downtime involves resting and decompressing. We do go out and spend time together but I would like to make it a little more planned out. We don’t always dress up as we used to unless it’s a special occasion. It would be nice if we both put in more of an effort to make our quality time and date nights special.

Travel More
This will always be a goal year after year. I don’t think I’ll ever actually meet it because there are always places I want to go, new and old. I think we are starting the year out strong with a Caribbean cruise next month!

Get Better Organized
If you want to talk about a consistently failing goal/resolution, this one is mine. I’m terrible at organization! Every year I want to get better organized and every year ends with me probably even more disorganized than the year before. Of course, it’s not just getting organized but staying organized. It doesn’t matter how many times I clean and organize something like my pantry if I don’t make an effort to keep it that way once it’s done.

Part of the problem is that our current living situation isn’t ideal for us but we’re planning on moving to a bigger place in a few months. I’m hoping that I can create an achievable organization system in the new home that will help me stick to it year-round. Keep your fingers crossed!
Launch My Newsletter
I was actually hoping to have this done this month but I’m afraid that I’m just not there yet. I fell behind at the end of the year because of this and that especially the holidays. This is also part of that whole organization thing. I need to get to the point where I organize my time better and I can start carving out time to create my newsletter.

When I do get around to launching it, it’ll probably only be a monthly newsletter in the beginning. I know how hard it is to keep up with email. I want you to be excited when you get mail from me not overwhelmed. So I’m thinking in this department less will be more! I’ll let you know when the time comes and I’m thinking about running some type of contest for my subscribers when it does.
Post Regularly on Social Media
This is in regard to the blog and my business not personal. Actually, I really didn’t post all that much in 2019 on both my personal and business accounts. I was definitely in an anti-social media mood for the majority of last year. At one point Instagram was my jam but I really did get tired of it. I was constantly being inundated with phony Instagram users. It became overwhelming and I needed a bit of a detox.

Social media is one of those things that can be really wonderful. On the personal side it’s great to keep in touch with friends and family you don’t see all that often. It is a vital tool when it comes to running a business in this day and age. I have been posting regularly on Facebook, YouTube, and Pinterest and I’m hoping to add Twitter and Instagram back to the schedule soon, too.
Produce Better Quality Videos
I am well aware that the quality of my videos at the moment is less than ideal. Video is not my forte but I’m hoping with more practice that I’ll be able to give you something of better quality before too long. I’m still really a beginner in this particular department but practice makes perfect, right?!

Open My Etsy Shop
You didn’t know that I was working towards opening an Etsy shop, did you? It’s going to be small in the beginning. Basically, I’m going to start out by selling some of my photography to download. I’m hoping to expand into prints and maybe even merchandise down the road. This is going to be coming to fruition very soon. I’ve really been working on it the past week and I’m hoping that in the next few days I will have my listings up!

So, those are some of My Goals for 2020. I hope that they may inspire you to sit down and figure out what you’re goals are for this New Year and what you can do to achieve them. Feel free to share them in the comments section!
