From an Oscar Party to a Caribbean Cruise, read all about The Best of February 2020.
It’s amazing how fast a month can go when you spend a week of it traveling. I feel like February is ending just as it was beginning! This has been a whirlwind of a month and definitely filled with fun and adventure. Here is The Best of February 2020.

Oscar Party
The past few years Derek and I have attended an Oscar party thrown by our friends, Brian and Kim. We all get dressed up in fancy formalwear and enjoy delicious appetizers and cocktails while watching the awards ceremony.

I was especially excited for this year’s party because I decided to go all out and Rent the Runway this month! I rented an exquisite green sequined Badgley Mischka gown. It was actually very comfortable and it made me feel like a mermaid!

The party was so much fun as always. Although I found the awards show a little “meh” this year, I did enjoy watching Brad Pitt win his first Oscar and the Eminem surprise performance was probably my favorite part of the whole show.
Etsy Shop
I put a big checkmark next to one of My Goals for 2020 this month. I finally opened my Etsy Shop. Right now it’s a small selection of photos that I’m hoping will grow over time. My shop’s name is EL Studios Designs whenever you want to pop on over and check it out!

Renting the Runway
At the end of last month, I found myself trying to decide on what to do for formalwear for the upcoming Oscar party and cruise this month. Rent the Runway had an amazing 50% off offer on their unlimited plan for the first month. I figured that this would be a great time as any to give it a try.

Not only did I enjoy wearing that beautiful Badgley Mischka gown for the Oscar Party but I found two gorgeous dresses for the cruise’s two formal nights. A red floral lace high-low dress with a full skirt by Monique Lhuillier was extremely comfortable and flattering. I love that it had pockets! The other dress was a Marchesa Notte strapless little black midi dress with a black, sheer top layer embroidered with bright, colorful flowers and embellished with black sequins and let me tell you, it will break my heart to return it I love it so much! Unfortunately, I can’t afford the $636 price tag to keep it (and that’s the discounted price!). I received many compliments on both dresses!

I’m very difficult to fit because of my wide frame. I have a large rib cage and chest so finding formalwear to fit me isn’t always easy especially designer clothing. I actually had to try on and return quite a few dresses before finding the right ones which is good and bad. I hate to think about the time I would’ve spent shopping for two new dresses so that is definitely a plus for Rent the Runway. However, I also feel like I spent more time trying on clothes than enjoying the full perks of the membership so at least for the moment, I don’t think I’ll be continuing with it. I do feel that it is an excellent option for the frequent traveler especially if you have a much easier time finding clothes to fit you.
Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day was a little different for us this year. Usually, we just stay in and I make a nice meal for us but since we had an early flight the next morning we actually went out to dinner. We kept it casual, though, and finally checked out the Blaze Pizza off of Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd.
It was actually quite good and I was impressed with their selection of different crusts, sauces, and toppings. I also liked that they had a variety of non-soda beverages which included one of my favorites, fresh-squeezed lemonade. It was definitely more crowded than I expected but we were still able to get a delicious and quick meal which is exactly what we needed! This Blaze Pizza is just steps away from the Durham Duck Donuts and the incredible aroma coming from our favorite donut shop was just too tempting. We ended up grabbing some donuts before heading home which actually proved to be a quick and convenient breakfast the following morning.
Long-Awaited Cruise
A few months ago Derek and I decided to book a cruise for his 40th birthday celebration. His actual birthday week wasn’t a possibility because of his work so we found a great deal for a couple of weeks later. We began our Western Caribbean adventure on the 15th and returned home just a few days ago. It was a wonderful trip and I can’t wait to tell you all about it next month. The cruise has inspired quite a few posts for me and we’ll be spending much of next month “Sailing through March”. It’s quite appropriate since it is spring break season!

That is The Best of February 2020! I definitely experienced some of my favorite things like travel, fashion, parties, and donuts! I’m looking forward to March and hoping it will bring something wonderful for you, me, and our families!
