I didn’t want to do a big post today because I know how crazy the day before Thanksgiving can be. You may be busy rolling out pie pastry or traveling to spend the holiday weekend with your loved ones. No matter what this day’s itinerary is for you, I just wanted to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving.
This truly is my favorite holiday. It’s all about good food and being thankful for what God has blessed us with from family to a place we can call home. I’m doing something different this year. For the first time in a long time, I’m actually taking Thanksgiving Day off!

My family was in town last week to celebrate my and my dad’s birthdays. So they are not here this year for Thanksgiving Day. Derek’s restaurant is open on Thanksgiving Day and it’s their busiest day of the year. So he’s gone most of the day. I usually do make a small version of Thanksgiving dinner for the two of us. I am going to bake an apple pie for dessert from the apples I bought at the farmer’s market last week but no turkey or stuffing is getting made by me today or tomorrow. Derek’s totally okay with it and he’s just going to bring some dinner home from the restaurant when his shift is over.
I have to be honest, you’re going to think I’m totally crazy, but I feel a little anxious about not cooking Thanksgiving dinner. I think I’m just too much like my grandma who just always felt at home in her kitchen. It’s pretty unthinkable to not cook Thanksgiving dinner but I’m going to do my best and give it a try!
I am going to make breakfast for the hubs before he has to go in for his shift. I always do that just because it’s a very long day for him and I want to make sure he’s got enough energy to last him through the day.
So whether you’re having a low key Thanksgiving like me or one with all the trimmings, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day! Keep your eyes peeled for my Christmas cookie recipe on Friday!
